When the time came to choose their wedding date, Octave and Julie LeBlanc of Memramcook wanted to choose a memorable day. As proud Acadians, they picked August 15 and will marry tomorrow as New Brunswick celebrates Quinze Aout. The bride and groom will take part in the Tintamarre dressed in their wedding finery, then will exchange vows immediately after the Tintamarre at St-Thomas Catholic Church in Memramcook, adjacent to the site of the first Acadian Congress in 1881. It is during this congress that, after several animated debates, the delegates agreed to adopt the 15th of August (the anniversary of Our Lady of the Assumption) as the Fete Nationale de l’Acadie.
